Job Description

6 months Fixed Term Contract 

25hrs per week 

Location: Currently homeworking. Our offices are based in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, London and Manchester 

This role is being created through the Government Kickstart scheme. To qualify for the role, you must be aged between 16-24 years old and currently unemployed and on Universal Credit. You will be given a reference number from your DWP work coach to include in your application.

Friends of the Earth is an environmental campaigning community dedicated to the wellbeing and protection of the natural world and everyone in it.

We are looking for an individual who would be interested in community work and campaigning, including  working with a diverse range of people, particularly volunteers/community campaigners.

In this placement, you'll use your organisational skills and talent for building relationships within communities to help build a strong community-based campaign around the upcoming Metro Mayor elections.

You will work with Regional Campaign Organisers, Friends of the Earth local groups and Climate Action Groups to mobilise communities to make climate change a key issue in the run up to the Metro Mayoral elections in May 2021.

The role will also involve supporting these groups to build positive working relationships with the elected Metro Mayor following the election. 

This role would be suitable for people with a keen interest in building relationships with people to create real change. You'll be good at organising yourself to plan and deliver your work to agreed deadlines.

You'll have some experience of using technology, including social media, to communicate and be willing to learn how to use these skills to campaign. You'll also be good at communicating verbally and in writing and have basic IT, literacy and numeracy skills.
